Spring is Near 3/9/2010

Here in the Mid-Atlantic region, we have been blasted by winter and with snow still on the ground its hard to believe that spring is only a few weeks away. We have had several sunny days and that's enough to motivate me to get outside and start running again. I don't know about you, but the winter months are always the hardest time for me to stay motivated with fitness. When there's no motivation, you really need to lean on someone to make you accountable. Think about the things that inspire you to be successful in life and use that for fitness.
When I get outside to run, my mind is clear and its my time to think about the things I'm doing with my life and career. Its my time to brainstorm ideas to grow my business. Its my time to appreciate my surrounding and enviroment. Its my time!
What inspires you? What activities do you love to do? What's you passion? Follow those thoughts to be motivated! Enjoy the fabulous weather while it lasts, get outside!

New Year, New You   1/4/2010

Its that time again, time for your New Year's Resolutions. If you are making the decision to make a change in your health, here are a few tips. First, write it down...If you really want to make changes this year set one big or long term goal and then break it down into smaller goals. Changing your habits takes time and you can't expect it to happen tomorrow but if you set smaller goals (ie. daily, weekly, and/or monthly) they will feel more attainable and you will feel great about yourself as your reach each one. Post your goals...once you have written your goals, post it on your refridgerator, next to the computer, or where ever else you will see them every day. That constant reminder will keep you motivated to stay on track.  Share your goals...tell your closest friends and family what your goals are and ask them to keep you accountable. If the people around you are supporting your goals and asking how you are doing, its just another way to keep you focused and successful. Take action...Now that you have done some much to keep your goals fresh in your mind, you have to follow through and take action. Whether its fitness or nutrition, you have to work at it to see the results. For fitness, remember this...if you want to change your body composition, you need to train/workout at least 3 days a week to get the results. By hiring a personal trainer you learn the proper tecniques and stay motivated! Wishing you all the best in reaching your goals in 2010!

Taking Care of Yourself, Inside and Out   11/1/09

As the holidays approach, most of us probably feel like our schedules are getting crazy, the wallets are shrinking, and the flu season is overwhelming us. Well there a few things you can do to keep yourself healthy in side and out. Good habits of exercise and nutrition will help promote a healthy body and great looking skin.
First lets talk about exercise; there are so many benefits of exercise that not only will improve your heart health, weight management, energy levels, muscular and skeletal systems; but it can also keep your skin looking young. Exercise increases your circulation which then provides nutrients to your entire body, including your skin cells. By getting more nutrients to your skin it helps decrease the effects of the external toxins such as air pollution. In addition, exercise will make you sweat which helps flush toxins out of the body, open clogged pores, and turn over dead skin cells.  In addition exercise influences the natural production of collagen, a kind of connective tissue that plumps your skin and gives your face the healthy young looking skin.
While exercise can do great things for your body, it needs additional help so that you can truly enjoy all of the benefits. Nutrition and exercise together are powerful tools for a healthy body and glowing skin. Many researchers are finding that anti-oxidants are decreasing your risk of cancer but it also helps improve your skin and overall health. At your next grocery shopping trip,  focus on purchasing colorful produce like leafy greens, berries, carrots, etc. Produce is nutrient-packed and full of anti-oxidants that helps decrease inflammation with in the muscles, joints, and  skin. Try drinking more water, the goal should be 96 ounces a day and stay away from carbonated sodas (even diet) and sugar loaded juices. Water helps improve your metabolic processes and keeps your skin clear.
By adding a few fruits and vegetables a day in your diet, exercising for 1 hour, 3 times a week, and drinking more water each day. You will see and feel benefits that will not bust your budget, keep you energized and healthy through the holidays. In addition, your skin will stay looking refreshed and rejuvenated. For more information about taking care of your skin go towww.annapolisama.com
